Hi Lily Pilly. Yes I know about overdoing it. Strange that you should mention it. I felt crook again this afternoon, just as I did yesterday (Hence my adult colouring in books). I feel like I'm re-living my childhood. Just bought a pack of glitter pens from Aldi today - that'll lift things up on my pictures.

sorry you're still suffering with your back. But OH seems to be keeping a close eye on you. Hope your next tests are promising.image

  • Yes, I have NDN's daughter's mobile number - but  the regular carer's car is parked outside now so he must have arrived as usual to get him up, dressed and breakfasted and all appears as normal.

There is another daughter who lives in Scotland who visits more infrequently - maybe she's staying for a few days which would explain a change in the usual habits.  As she comes by train there wouldn't be a car parked outside.

They're quite private people and we tend to only speak to them about things that affect them, like felling the tree which overhung their garage, and replacing the fence etc.

Sounds good Dove. I can relate to the privacy issues. I don't like people sticking their noses into our business.

Lily P, I've been wondering about Bushman and Punkdoc too, but if there is a problem with electricity, they migjtnt be able to post messages.  Don't worry about the spell checker. Mine catches me all the timeimage.

Morning/afties all. I slept quite well too - apart from the rain and wind battering on the windows and waking me a few times. Sorry to all you insomniacs. It's no fun. image

LP - we've not heard from Bushman at all. Zoomer is in Lancs and has had problems with power cuts and flooding too. image Little-ann is in Cumbria and hadn't posted for a while, but she posted a couple of days ago to say she was ok. Jo was having flooding in some of the garden - wonder if her garden's  any less 'Niagara like' today image  This is when I'm glad I live on a hill.

Dove - there was an old lady across the street from me who left lights on a lot. I debated phoning 999 once, because late at night I thought I could see her sitting in a chair and not moving. My mind was working overtime due to personal experiences though, and she was ok. She had various people coming in during the day and the Fire service arrived one day as she'd obviously left  something on and it had gone on fire. I think she's been transferred to a home now. Difficult to know what to do.image

Jo, it's very hard for me to imagine things being so wet. We are so terribly dry here most of the time that I'm always hoping for rain. It would certainly make pulling weeds easier.

Fairygirl, it sounds just as awkward as that situation that Dove wrote about. You dont   like to interfere do you?

On a lighter note re the awful weather and subsequent flooding there was a short film report from the Aberdeen area where the river had burst its banks and a salmon was found flapping around in a bunker on a golf course.  Looked a good size too.!

    safely returned to the riverimage

I saw that LP - brilliant wasn't it? I wasn't entirely sure it was returned to the river though...perhaps someone's oven....imageimage

    Jo - that's dedication image

It was tricky Pat. I don't know the lady and kept looking to see if there was movement from the chair.  Fortunately there was. She must have just fallen asleep.

Off to work now so have a good day everyone. Stay warm and dry if possible image

    Morning all.

Tried to cut the lawn yesterday (it wont stop growing and in tufts is starting to fall over!) But couldn't get the mower to work. Today I really must try and get the petrol smell out of the kitchen; apparently a full strip down and rebuild leaves quite a lingering smell. Even our curry couldn't over power it. Oops! It's rained now so can't cut it but it really needs doing soon.

Last night we looked at our budgetting for the remodeling of the HOUSE. There is so much we need to do, plastering the entire house (once we've chipped this awful crumbling plaster off), a log fire instead of a hole in the wall, a usable kitchen, carpets, and more. We think we can afford £15, 000 ...

... His lordship has decided that the very first thing we need to do is remove the GARAGE and build a new one. At a cost of at least £12, 000.

It's a good job he's having water and electric in the garage because he'll be spending a lot of time in there.

Times like this I miss having the kinds of friends nearby that would willingly pull up their sleeves and in return for alcohol and meat feasts on the BBQ help me work on the house.

Dove, its so stressful worrying about neighbours you don't talk too sometimes. I'm glad that things seem to be running as normal this morning for him.

Lilly; I thought I saw Bushman posting but now I'm not sure. Do we have many members that have been affected? It's been awful watching it on the news and the chatter on the emergency services grape vine.

Friends funeral is today. Still doesn't feel real. If you're in the Barnsley area and see a Green Goddess go by do give Stuart a shout.

    Right. More tea anyone?
