Edd, Metformin should only be taken under strict supervision from a doctor. It can have side effects. Some people develop a serious condition called lactic acidosis while taking metformin. I was a nurse. Listen to punkdoc.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Hubby has just gone to work. When he went out to the garage, he found a large hedgehog ambling around the lawn. It scuttled off under the beech hedge, lots of rustling followed.
I had a great aunt Gertie, and a GA Hazel. I was a bit confused when mum said that Gertie couldn't come to Dads funeral, until it appears that that Gertie was his cousin, not an aunt. She was still driving at 96 but didn't like to go far.
Metformin has a lot of side effects, often people get diarrhoea when they start taking it, and newly diagnosed type 2diabetics will often miss or not take it. I think the theory is that non diabetics taking metformin, extends life or reduces risk from cancer by reducing glucose level in blood. If your pancreas is working properly, it produces insulin to do that for you. If your pancreas is not working properly, then low carb or low GI diet is probably the way to go. I would sooner alter my diet than take pills.
How is the guerrilla gardening coming along Edd. ?
I used up all my spare seeds on a patch by an old canal walk that the bulldozers had cleared when building new houses as infill. I did notice quite a few had germinated. Next year could be interesting. I think someone else must have had the same idea. Some of the seedling patches were not mine.
Edd, look up homeostasis. The body spends most of it time regulating itself to bring itself back to normal levels. When it can't, disease follows. All medication has side effects, including homeopathic. Placebos can be pretty powerful, nocebos, even more so.

Edd, the BNF is very useful for side effects and a lot of net based advice sheets, will give problems of Metformin.
Yes I do have SAD and also a long history of severe depression, which is why I retired from medicine, rather early.

I can't access the BNF, it says it has detected that I'm in France so I can't see it.
I had wondered, Edd. My first OH was manic depressive, but lovely in between. He died some years ago, not because of that though.
Morning to you too Edd. Just back from town and with a clean nice smelling poodle by my side. Not much else happening here.
Ps. I like Hazel as a name and it's easy to type.

Time for coffee, I think.
