...most British expatriates on the Costas don't of course speak fluent Spanish; in fact where my uncle lives there's a British community.  But by and large they don't try and blow up the locals.  Live and let live I say.image

Wet and miserable here but at least we haven't got your wind (pardon missusimage).  I've ben feeling dizzy and we've both had a sofa day.

Verdun, I don't quite get the terrorist / criminal link.

I want terrorism stopped, I just don't believe that closing our borders, even if it was possible, would help.

I don't want to live in a country that tries to isolate itself from the rest of the world. I want as much variety as possible. How much poorer would my life be, if I had never tasted a chicken vindaloo!?!? The alternative is that we adopt the views of UKIP, or worse.

I can't wait for the Caribbean either Hosta.

How can you lie there and think of England

Have cleared the summer bedding and half the old compost from 6 troughs and 5 big pots on the sitting room terrace and refilled with fresh compost to receive winter and spring flowers. Getting cold and gloomy outside so will do it tomorrow.

I'm fine with temperatures up to 28° too, Hosta. I just don't like it up to 35° with hot nights too when not away on holiday and the garden suffers too.

I speak fluent French and join in with village events, but, lovely though France is, I would have preferred to live in England. But I'm so lucky to live in Europe when you hear what happens in other parts of the world.

doc - I agree. We have to have a bit of common sense, though that often seems in short supply nowadays.

BL - I think most of us here will go to bed tonight grateful that we can

I'm not going down without a fight either. I might be just a daft wee wumman, but if they come knocking on my door, I'll at least aim a kick at their nads before they blow me to kingdom come.

I've got bolognese on the go for dinner, and a chocolate cake in the oven, so let's all turn our minds to better things and a have piece of cake later while we all count our blessings.

I in no way suggested that Brits abroad are bombing folk.

I was making a reference to " integration"

  • Hello all

Popped out and brought plants well weather wet today so decided to go get plants for Woolston station hanging baskets

Then added a few more plants for the new bit of garden they will be having - so I will try and make some planter, brought some more plants for garden make it look nicer also had vouchers so got a few tubs with violas in for free, all from Woody's way the New Forest Baskets and Blooms they close for winter from tomorrow

Now all plants and compost sitting in back garden waiting for a day to be planted it is like a plant nursery out there

4thPanda not plants for now until spring think you would get away with that

  • Thanks Edd image  sadly Firefox won't even let me access that site - the only way I can access this forum is to click on a link in the Newsletter in my email - it's all very frustrating.  When I get a chance I'll use OH's laptop and see what I can find out from that image
