Just moved 3 clematis which were climbing up a trellis that got blown over last week. The two group 2's (Evison varieties) weren't doing very well there anyway so have potted them up into large pots with my best home-made compost for some tlc next season before I find them a better aspect. The third was a Bill McKenzie which was rampant so has gone somewhere it can do it's thing without bullying anything else!
Being a bloke I've left all of the Christmas stuff until the last minute of course, so the next 2 days will be a bit hectic!
OH is going around her mums so will be on my own and cooking my own Christmas dinner - absolute bliss! Inspected my Christmas veg this morning most of which is still in the ground. Brussels look great, parsnips a bit small this year but big enough, 2 types of potato (for roast and 'new'), celeriac (going to try roasted), savoy cabbage and a winter squash, also for roasting. Yum! Need a snack now - made myself hungry by typing that!
A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
afternoon all... Mrs g those nails look fab fab fab.... Well sausage rolls made.... Then I attempted to scalp the front lawn in preparation for the yellow rattle and other wild seeds.... It didn't go to plan as the lawn mower didn't get low enough. A majority of the patch is moss and omg it didn't want to shift.... In the end I just focused on a quarter and got all seeds scattered. I decided that as it is so mild I would risk them all as it does reccomend doing in the autumn so... Then planted a load of snowdrops I got for 50p a pack... I know it's late but they were sprouting In the pack so... Then got x5 bags of potential leaf mould done and finally planted some cyclamen puffed now and fancy a snowball lol
I only have 5 to wrap now and I'm done!!!! Hurrah.... Went to the GC earlier to try and get an evergreen clematis none.... Some lovely ones but no evergreens
Phew all house cleaned, other than bathrooms and feather duster flick around that is it. No one is coming but at least I'm satisfied all is clean...I'm a sad old so and so.
Happy as Hellebore Anna's Red is starting to flower ( Due Jan / March ) Tulips in pots on patio are showing, don't know if I should add compost, will see what weather does.
Now time for meal prep' veg and lamb steak, no spuds for me after I attacked ( and beat ) a full big bar of fruit & nut last night. Rate I'm going if anyone needs a Christmas Turkey I'm available, already marinaded in white white.
House clean, bathrooms done, cake iced, biscuits made .... Feeling very smug
Wrapping-fest and pudding making tomorrow .... Its all coming together Spent the day singing along to christmas songs ( old and new - love them all). Now sipping a glass of white whilst listening to carols from kings.
guests start turning up tomorrow - so i will say a very, very merry christmas to all my forker friends - enjoy, one and all
