Hi all, must have taken me ages to eat my breakfast if I was returning to post afterwards
Pdoc soz to hear you have been ill hope you are on the mend.
Christmas tree now erected ( don't ask why I have a blinking 7' thing ) lights on and nothing else and I told OH that I liked the minimal look, but I've been rumbled so tomorrow I will dress it up.
Food cooking and last night's dancing to watch prior to the dance off.
Yesterday I went to Wyevale to spend my vouchers I got bulbs for my plant pot but not tulips as they did not have any, only bulbs left were daffs few crocus, hyacinth and alliums - so I went for the alliums with 70% off from £19.99 down to £6.00 for a pack of different ones which is much better - will get round to this - also had a free hot drink of tea with voucher
Today fed the birds and squirrels with peanuts, hammering my pallet fencing that will get painted in spring and put up, went to the station to check out the garden and sort the rubbish out then collect some garden waste
That looks rather scummy RB, think will go down very nicely, ta.
Great bargains GG and you sound like you've had a very productive day, definitely deserve cake! Thanks for praise on run but you know when you are overtaken by people twice your age - at least - you know you should be working a bit harder - steady away though, steady away.
BL hope all went well with your busy day too and all the mince pies were appreciated, any left over will be taken care of on here I'm sure.
Off to watch the Dance Off, been in Limoges at the Christmas Village all afternoon, was super but very busy, ready for a sit down.
Good evening to all.

I used to bake bread every week but I seem to have developed an issue now we're gluten free - the moment I go near any recipe with yeast in it fails to rise! Not even the local birds will eat the resulting mess!
Sad to read about Grandma. I can take a guess whose been sticking their foot in.
In gardening news: my "oh fudge the label fell off" is sprouting! Hopefully we'll find out what it is soon.
When the children were at home I made all our bread - my Gt Grandpa was a village baker and his daughter, my Grandma taught me to bake - I love yeast cookery and did regular baking sessions two or thr,ee times a week. I started again when I retired but the pounds piled on so now I only do it for special occasions - I'm planning to make some Stollen for Christmas

I used to make bread when the children were at home, I can remember once making some with stone ground flour and my son said... oh lovely, house bricks for tea.
Does anyone remember the strike when we couldnt buy bread? The stuff we were making then!

I remember the bread strike - the village shop rationed it and dear Mrs S couldn't believe I didn't want any - she'd not noticed that I never bought any
Our usual family bread was made with two thirds stoneground wholemeal and one third white and I used a little black molasses to help the yeast along - it made lovely bread.

Well after having the old car on the drive for three weeks , and no one wanting it, all of a sudden, yesterday, four people wanted it. The lodgers friend reckoned it was worth £500, where he works at the vauxhall breakers. Someone put a note through the letter box, asking it it was for sale, and then offered £200. OH's brother in law rang up and wanted it for his daughter. While OH was showing someone, the man across the road came over, had a run around in it, and offered £450. Came up with the cash, so its gone (across the road). Its had three new tyres, a new alternator and exhaust this year, so it has to be worth that. It looks quite impressive now its had its first wash and polish for three years.
Also the Jeweller rang. With everything else that had been going on, I forgot my Birthday prezzie. Anyhow, it's been collected, but we are waiting for new years eve, get the funeral and christmas out of the way.... and then a fresh start. There will be more than one sparkler on New Years eve.
