One for me please Dove!  image

Beautiful day here now the mist has lifted.  Wonderful scents of autumn - under the trees in the wild bit of the park (near our house) it smells almost edible, spicy and sweet, from the fallen leaves.

Forgot to say re yesterday's bulbs that they were FREE!  When ordering bird food in bulk on Tinternet I found I was £2.50 short of avoiding the £2.75 delivery charge...  Cheapest item costing £2.50 or more was 25 Pushkinia bulbs, £2.75.  Bingo!  image

Welcome back, Beaus Mum.  Hope you're managing to catch up...

So you spent ??2.75 to avoid paying ??2.75? Admittedly you did get a bag of bulbs that you didn't mean to buy otherwise!

Oh dove we have hot air balloons over our garden too! On year there were a few all together and so low I was waving to them!

oh I sooooooo would love one of your dinners! Sounds perfick!

Liri what do you call bulk when buying bird seed? Did you know they do lovely big bags in the pound shop? image Guess how much?!! image

Could that be... £1, Beaus Mum??  image  No pound shops hereabouts... and I refuse to buy the shrivelled, mouldy "bird peanuts" they sell in our market.  5kg or 10kg bags for me, depending on what's on special offer.

Welshonion, yes, I paid £2.75 to avoid paying £2.75... but I got bulbs, instead of paying out for postage.  Geddit?  I mean, free bulbs.  Who wouldn't??

Just out of interest, how much did you pay for the bird food? I usually buy a large bag of peanuts from the local farmer's co-op.

I could probably find a cheaper supplier, but I've heard such horror stories of birds being poisoned by inferior peanuts infected with aflatoxins...  £17 for 5kg.  That's pretty similar to what I'd pay at the garden centre, but quite a bit more than the grotty ones in our local market.

Got sunflower hearts at the same time, cheaper than I can get them locally - £13 for 5kg.  Better not advertise the supplier or I'll fall foul of the advertising rules...

Just got back from a trip to London, a river boat cruise down the Thames with Sunday lunch and a jazz band. We also went round Covent Garden and to the Tower of London to see the poppies. A wonderful day.

That sounds a great day Lily.

I enjoyed my lunch out at the new restaurant run by a young couple. There were 16 of us.

Can't get peanuts for birds in France, but sunflower seeds are cheap and sold in the supermarket. Sunflowers are grown all around here, so pretty when out and so sad and messy when over.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
  • It was Busy, a belated birthday treat. Recommend the river trip lovely meal.
