     Hello everyone,

A few photos of my camelias. The white has always been in a pot since I bought it as a small twig. The red one was a bit bigger and planted straight out in the ground. They don't get any special attention although I make sure they are never dry in the summer as that's when the flowers for the following year are formed. The red one was hit by a fallen branch a few weeks ago and had the top broken but hasn't come to too much harm. The blue tits are really attracted to the red one. The bees aren't interested. The blue tits aren't harming the flowers just pecking in the centre. It seems to be the pollen they are after because I can't see any insects there.

Hi all, had a lovely day in the garden, in fairly warm weather. Nice when weeding to see shoots of plants starting to re-emerge. You know they will, but until they actually do, you always feel they might not. [ if that makes any sense ]

In the greenhouse, I was particularly pleased to see shoots of Lychnis arkwrightii Vesuvius appearing. I sowed the seed in the summer, as although they are perennial, they are very shortlived. They are lovely plants with very dark foliage and, vivid orange flowers, they fit beautifully in my hot bed, with Cannas, dahlias, Rudbeckias, Calendula, Atriplex and other hot coloured flowers.

My tree lupin seeds are growing nicely, hoping to get first year flowers, if I am lucky.

Right off to check the budget, to see if I am any better off.

How can you lie there and think of England

Busy day at work. Very cold  wind here but washing was still attached when I came home -just!

Love that white Camellia Pam. I'm sure you don't really want it , and I could give it a good home....image

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

Can't grow camellias image, alkali soil. Tried one in a pot once, friend had given me a beautiful terracotta pot but it broke in winter and the camellia died.

Planted my potatoes and sweet peas this afternoon.

This morning we went to a talk on the French Revolution by the Historical Society (but they are English ex-pats), about an hour's drive away. Really good bring and share lunch.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
