I hope your Mum enjoys her supper tonight, Verdun.
I also think you've made the right decision, Stacey.
When my horse was 30 he had pericarditis, inflammation of the lining of the heart. A young vet came and dosed him up with expensive medication. When I asked if he could put him to sleep the vet said he deserved a chance. Then old H collapsed and couldn't get up so I asked for the boss vet. Boss vet was furious and said he should have been put down and I told him young vet refused. Not a condition an old horse could survive so H suffered for longer and I had a big bill.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Mornin All, OL got bored with footie myself and ended up joining you on a spending spree bought a new bird feeder to give the squirrels a new challeng.
Verdun Im sure your mum will soon be on the mend, my mums 92 and usually very with it but a couple of recent infections have resulted in her seeing dancing babies accompanied on the piano, a donkey in A&E, a full scale meat raffle in the ICU and a van being repaired on the ward while a band played which kept her up all night - I want what shes on! Antibiotics mean she back to her normal self now.
Stacey I also think you did the right thing re pussycat, vets can guilt us into all sorts of things and it sounds like shes had a good run for her money and just needs to enjoy the rest of the summer.
Dove - housework! surely there must be something else.
Just done battle with the Inland Revenue who are on strike today, just a skeleton staff. Never mind they answere after 15mins not bad I thought and looks like Im due a tax refund (It'll probably be 15p)
A nice box of plants has arrived from Claire Austin so Im going to get dressed and plant my Astrantias (venice and Roma) Campanula glomerata Superba and Thalictrum delavayi. Fingers crossed I can find room.
Oh Clari dont let the b*****ds grind you down girl!!!
Yvie,mi was only window shopping But very tempted....GC today will be the biggest test and one of my good friends wants to arrange a day out, probably to a GC for lunch....eek now that will be a challenge!!
Mad dogs & Englishmen and us..been out in the mid-day sun painting the shed. Fit to wilt. I know you shouldn't do it in bright sunshine but I was sick of looking at it. Each time I planned to do it rain was forecast. Now time to hold a chair down in the shade.
Phew - just come in from the garden where I have done battle with brambles. It has been very hot but there is a slight cloud cover now. Done things the wrong way round as usual.
Sorry to hear about your cat Stacey. At that age it is only right that you are thinking of it's comfort and not prolonging the inevitable - your vet was only thinking of the money Hope you really enjoy HC
Think I'll join you in the shade in the garden KEF. Just a ginger beer today
KEF I've a bench you can paint if you like - its mostly done just needs another coat but every time I go to do it its either so hot I'm convinced the paint will more evaporate then sink in or looks like its about to rain!
Still here. I was going to ask the boss if it was worth my coming in tomorrow but he's decided that since its such lovely weather he's going home to play with his motorbike.
Its not even a very nice motorbike.
Oh well - off to the museum tonight and I've giving myself a very special treat of giving one of the smaller engines a full polish up and clean until it is positively beyond shiny again. Looks like it'll be another late night coming home and "showering" in the outside sink to avoid waking up my partner!
Off on my chicken keeping course on Sunday so shall have to hope the weather is cool on Saturday so I can get lots* done in the garden.
*By lots I mean go to the bank, just "nip" into the pond centre, look with puppy dog eyes at their fountain display, come home, make a cup of tea, pootle around the garden, get another drink, stare at the vegetable plot area until one of us gives in, poke around the wildlife area for frogs, announce an impromptu BBQ will serve as dinner, cut the grass, talk about digging the rest of the bush roots out, open a ginger beer, promise to do the gardening on Monday
