Fungi - Toadstools - Potatoes

I've grown Charlotte potatoes in large plastic tubs using one third manure and two thirds branded multi-purpose compost of fifty/fifty peat split with forest sourced material - wood fibre (certified by the Forestry Stewardship Council). During the spud growing process toadstools flourish and withered before I could identify them. Does anyone know whether the potato crop is safe to eat having shared a growing environment with toadstool mycelia? Thank you. Michael J.

I really cannot see how there could be a problem - the plants themselves do not share DNA or whatever - all sorts of things grow in the fields where potatoes are growing, and don't forget, potato seeds are poisonous and they grow on the same plants as the potatoes!

    Enjoy your spuds! image
