bitter swede

Hi Guys,  I have just harvested two swede (cant remember what variety), one average size the other huge, same plot and both are bitter. Is this because they have not had a frost or have i done something wrong. Thanks

The only time I had bitter swedes I did harvest too soon. I don't think you need frost on them.

I find that a good sharp frost helps turn the starches to sugar and sweetens them up.  Leave them until we've had a couple of good frosts and they'll be fine.  image
