I am a newbie gardener, and I have seen these all over the place and want to get some, but I don't know what they are called. Can anyone help?

they're Japanese anemones. Lovely but get a bit out of hand.
In the sticks near Peterborough
Japanese or autumn flowering anemone. They come in white or pink. Most gardencentres have them at the moment, unless its white swan, which nobody hs due to excessive demand, (and verdun seems to have the only one doing well.)
Cheers guys
The one there is probably A.j. Honorine de Joubert.
Do be careful, I have been trying to get rid of them from one bed for 5 years now and despite weed kiiler every time it shows a leaf, I noticed today that the dratted stuff has grown again.
Next door has a clump of pink jap anemones that is pretty indestructible. 10 years of the dogs bashing it down didn't kill it. I took a clump off it three years ago, thinking if they were moving , the new neighbours might dig it up. It has just flowered for me for the first time. The original clump, now there are no dogs, is magnificent.
I had bought several different types in pots and planted them and lost them. They seem to be happy in the clay next door, but not in my sand.
OK, I doubt I would want to ever get rid of it, but i will make sure it doesn't spread t my neighbours, thanks for the warning!
