  • Chris yours sound like one of our trees which we think are victoria Plums Very yummy. (picture at the top is the same but some of ours are bright red)

We have a plum tree & a Damson tree. No idea how old but very very big. One is almost as tall as the house ! Is it possible to cut back all the major top branches to encourage growth lower down the tree ? We have got some lower shoots after cutting some branches off last year but not sure if they will grow to substancial fruiting branches ? Help Please x
  • Pippa, good aafternoon, I have had a disaster with my tomatoes both in the green house and outside.
They have been covered with black branches and rotten toms! Do you think this is due to lack of sun, cold days and wet weather?
I will ensure that the greenhouse is thoroughly cleaned so this does not happen next year, is this the correct procedure?

    Many thanks

    Jackie
  • I had the best crop ever on my Victoria plum tree - 114lb! It is about 13 years old, has no special care and tends to have a good crop one year and practically nothing the next. I picked every single one, gave them away to friends and neighbours, ate some, stewed and froze some and made 104 pots of jam. I am now selling the surplus jam for the animal rehoming charity from which I had my cat.
