Also here in Cheshire, yesterday and before was just an extension of summer. Temperature 65 degrees F and the garden still looking fabulous. However, today (Oct 9th) temperature 53 degrees F and a cold westerly blowing and feels like `Here comes winter!!`
Winter is Coming, indeed! Most of my bulbs planted up in the last few weeks for next year and the majority of remaining perrenials put into a raised bed in their pots for some extra warmth. Predicted to be very cold this year. Summer just isn't long enough. As a poster said abiove though, some plants still doing remarkably well including Penstemon, Aster, and even my little delosperma ice plants.
