Wisteria climbing inside!

Hello,
HELP.
Our Wisteria (25 years old and old friend) isclimbing in and has pushed a double glazed window off its hinges!! It will no longer shut properly . Can I cut the plant back to the main stem or will this kill it? It holds fond memories so I don't want to take it right out.

Cut it right back or it will attck you in your sleep! Quite thuggish these so you are unlikely to kill it.
I saw one once that had pulled a cast iron verandah off a house.
cut it back hard and keep it well pruned, and it will flower its socks off.
