  • Oh, and a rogue Luin - was £2.99 - bought for £0.25, EIGHT flower stalks (with love and care) from Wilko. Harvesting seed now image

  • Bargain of the year? The offers which GW and T&M trotted out earlier this year. I've had to pot up module grown stuff, but I dodn't have anything to 'do' cuttings from.

Twenty-four Hidcote and twenty-four Munstead.  The roots are outside the fibre pots they were transplanted in to. I have the space to accomodate them.

Although not an obvious 'bargain' I'll also mention the paperwhite bulbs which await planting for indoors. £2.50 for five fat bulbs; scent and colour will be delivered in the darker days of the year. I just have to resist the temptation of planting them up now.

  • Get to know when your local Tesco & B&Q have their deliveries, they bring in new stock and the old has to go. In the past years I have filled my trolley with 6 trays of 30 bedding plants reduced to 30p per tray! and 6 hanging baskets fully planted up for £1.50 each, I am reusing the baskets this year.

I don't usually share this information, as like the food waste reductions people start to queue up waiting for the price to go down. I just know tuesday evening after work is a good time. Also the wednesday and thursday before Easter.  happy hunting

  • Thats a good tip Mother bear,i shall keep that in mind.OH and clueless not all old me are stupid people might i say some are packed full of knowledge which is priceless.

this bench found  flt tipped . with out the rug and cat .

That looks like an old sofa - so the wood will need to be protected and the joints watched for damage being outside. You do not want to fall on your bum come spring.

  • watch out for Tescos bargains, bought 50 bulbs for 3 pound which were marked 5pound but alas the second time round dispite the £3 pound sign charged £5.a little naught on their part I thought.

  • Bought a B&Q climing rose for £8, its actually quite healthy now Ive clipped off some of the scraggy bits.Someone near by chucked out some gardening kit, so got a pile of seed trays and pots for nothing!

  • For some reason i never really buy my bulb until later on which they then come down in price just to clear them out for new stock. The only problem with this is that they are flowering to late in the year when you need the room for your summer beddidng.

  • I have had many bargain plants this year but I think my favourite is a heuchera "Southern Comfort" from my local flower shop for £1.99 which I bought early on in the summer and have now split into five good plants.
