Can you identify this rose please?

It has been flowering for a couple of months and has no fragrance that I can smell.  I'm not sure if it is a climber (it hangs down rather and is propped up with bamboo) or a shrub that needs serious pruning.

Thanks

It looks like one of the David Austin roses, vut which one I'm not sure. So many look like this. Try their catalogue or try everyrose.com.

When you say it has no fragrance you can smell - can you normally smell roses? If it has no scent i would doubt it is a David Austin.

Might sound like an odd question, but i for one can never detect the beautiful scent of witch hazels even if i stick my nose up really close ( nice picture!!)

I can't smell David Austin roses. They all smell like baby powder to me.

  • Thanks for your replies.  I can smell other roses but nothing from this one.

I was trying to identify it so that I know whether to treat it like a shrub or attach it to the fence like a climber.  The stems are very long (2 - 3 metres) and hang down so do I assume it is a climber? Thanks
