Hi. I have moved house and want to make sure I look after the current plants. Only problem is I don't know what half of them are.

Please help.

thanks

Mike - the second looks like some sort of spirea - indestructible, and will take over if you are not careful.

The first photo looks like a glorious mix, and not quite sure where to start on identifying!  All I can say for sure is there is a little hardy geranium (pink flower) in the foreground, and a "gone over" buddlea behind it image

    I thought 2 was a close up of 1

Ooops - Nut, you are right.  The "gone over" buddlea is actually a partially "gone over" spirea !

I like the buddleia suggestion best. Maybe not B. davidii.

  • Thanks for the quick replies. 2 is a close up of 1. It is doing well which worries me image

It doesn't require much tlc and provides a good backdrop to perennials etc -  here's some general info http://apps.rhs.org.uk/plantselector/plant?plantid=1869

I have one of those growing too, always thought it was buddleia. Flowers are always swamped with butterflies image

  • Thanks everyone for all your help. It is a Spiraea douglasii as suggested.

please look out for other posts looking for help - as I said, I have not long moved in and I have defiantly been bittern by the gardening bug so I would like to know what is in my garden and how to care foit them.

thanks again for all your help.
