Took my daughter for a birthday treat - Monty Don at Edinburgh Fringe. Knew it would hit the spot. What's more honest or essential than your relationship with the soil? Sore knees? Dirty hands? No fingernails to speak of? Perfect sanity.

Know what you mean Sue & Tea, I can't work in gloves so my hands are a mess, but love just being"in there"...in fresh compost, not garden soil. I can't transplant and prick out in gloves & love walking barefoot on lawn and washing feet with hose pipe.
