vine weeval a constant battle alway's be on the lookout for the evil looking bug that can't fly and kill it as the maggots that they manage to lay under plants in profussion each grow into adults they destoy the plants from the roots whilst the adult ravages the leavesit's a good idea to make collers for the plants so that these pests cannot lay their eggs. good luck.
hello, it my second year trying to grow my own. i do herbs quite successfully. but its veg im struggling with. ive planted charlottes in potato bags. ive also tried using seed trays to germinate a number of things like tomatoes and put them indoors under a cloche i bought. thing is ive gone to them this am and have white furry ? mould on then... should they be outside now... im just worried the weather isnt warm enough and they wont do well. ive utilised my mum little mini greenhouse outside for some of my seeds in small pots and they are doing well. i want to do some carrots and parsnips. any advice would be UTTERLY GRATEFULLY received.... want to do so well thanks!
I tried growing carrots last year although the tops were lovley and healthy for some reason when I harvested them they were all like corkscrews!!! any advice please
I got too impatient this year and planted everything too early! Being my first year, I just couldn't wait and as soon as the sun came out, began hardening off!! Sadly all my chilli plants are nearly dead but the tomatoes have come through for me! I'll have to sit on my hands for a few more weeks next year!
Help. I have/had a 30 year old Bay tree. Last october I had a couple of feet lopped off it . It was still about 30 foot high but here in the north west we had weeks of snow and freezing weather and all the leaves have turned brown and the tree looks dead. I don't want to do anything drastic with it but should I feed it now or leave it alone and wait to see if anyhting starts shooting. Any advice would be welcome. Thanks Mags

Really interesting advice but I need BASIC help please! I'm just in the process of digging over a patch 8'x8' and then read that's too small...so another couple of feet is being added. When I finally get the plot prepared, is it too late to plant potatoes? I read I have to chit them and that will take 6 weeks and then it all seems too late.I want to have some quick successes, so what do you experienced people think I should do? Cheers...for the advice.
