varities-of-potato-for-sandy-soil
in Fruit & veg
I have just begun to harvest my King Edward potatoes. The soil is sandy and very slightly alkaline. The potatoes are all healthy but rather small. I wanted some really large ones for jacket spuds. The Charlottes did well. Any suggestions improving next year's King Edward or suggest another for a baking ,boiling and jacket all-rounder main crop? Thanks.

My brother is a large
commercial potato grower - he recommends Cara for ease of cultivation, disease and pest resistance and flavour - its a great baking potato

He also agrees with Thompson & Morgan that it tolerates dry conditions well - he grows on light land.
I prefer Maris Piper for mashing

Thank you Dovefromabove, that's really helpful.
