markings-on-cherry-tree-leaves

I have a cherry tree which I planted out, into a large wooden planter, earlier this year when the extreme cold had eventually ceased!  It has produced quite a lot of foliage but I have recently noticed many of the leaves have brown threads all over them - just as if a child has had fun with a brown crayon.  Does onyone know what this is and how I can treat it?

Do you have a photo, Ruth? It might be leaf miners burrowing around inside the leaves.

I also have found some 'drawings' like this on my apple tree!!

It looks like leaf miners. They are little grubs that eat out the central layer of leaves. They don't do much damage, just make these unsightly marks.

  • Thanks for that information - I can at least look forward to some lovely fruit next year!!
