Leaves and flowers are completely wrong for a Horse chestnut!
It is a late flowering shrub called Clethra.
It should have a spike of flowers on the end of every branch.
A nice shrub.
I like them.
You sure Silver surfer? Leaves look wrong. Too long and narrow for Clethra? Finch when thay come out smell them if Clethra should be scented. And Hi Silver don't believe we have met

Hi Nutcutlet.
How kind... thank you!
Moved home from South Wales to Perthshire Scotland.
All very traumatic
Homeless for nearly 2 months whilst all legal side to get sorted
Computer now connected.
Normal service almost resumed!
House still full of packing cases.
Good to have you back, I can't ID those acid lovers
House moving is traumatic at the best of times amd being homeless must be awful. I hope you've got a good garden to work on at the end of it all

Hi Addict,
I am 99.9% sure that the leaves in pic one match Clethra.
There are several sp.
If you Google "Clethra leaves" you will see what I mean.
I tried to add it as a link last time... and messed up!
Ok googled. Guess you're right
Didn't know there was a pink form too. Do you know if that smells as wonderful as the white?
Gff you are so lucky to be able to grow it. I am on chalk so no good for me
Silver surfer, thank you so much. That looks exactly what it is. I havent noticed any scent yet, but flowers are out quite yet.
Any ideas on the other 2? x
How do I send a picture from my computer to this site for identification? I have messed about for half an hour now and got nowhere
