large-patio-pot

Could anyone recommend a perrenial plant for my large (24" deep X 17" across) patio pot,I have mainly Hostas in my smaller surrounding pots, and would prefer a colourful, but not too tall growing plant ,as it can be quite breezy in my location. All replies would be gratefully accepted from an old fogey, with basic knowledge of gardening.

have you got winter protection. ?

I have a couple of large variegated agave americana. They look pretty good.

However they have to be overwintered in a frost free place, and they have very nasty spikes if you have kids around, or anybody unsteady on their feet.

  • Thankyou fidgetbones,I was hoping to leave it out in winter,as it would be the focal point of my patio.

  • THankyou Verdun, wow,a veritable mind of information, gives me plenty to go at there.
