NO MAN OR WOMAN SHOULD BE LEFT BEHIND

For all those who are hesitant to follow to Gardener's Corner Forum, please do reconsider. Below is a reply to a posting by their admin. GC is well monitored by about 7 admin members who practically cover the forum 24 hours a day. I imagine most are feeling as I do that no one should be left behind. Personally I can't imagine finding a better forum to move to. It's safe, it's friendly and extremely welcoming, it costs nothing, and there's quite a lot to gain from joining.

The software can be a challenge if you're not use to it. I believe the software is a popular structure which is used by many internet forums, it's not wildly unique or complicated. 'GW refugees' are learning the nuances of the software pretty quickly.

Apologies if my posting is presumptive, like many 'GW refugees' it's hard to leave friends and those with a life-time of gardening expertise behind.

How can those that have made the 'jump' help those who are reluctant? How can we fix this?

'New Posts' @waterbutts. It's the same thing as 'recent discussions 'here.
There's also an option called 'forums' and that just gives you all the separate topics and categories , so that you can pick a suitable one for a query or comment.
You can bookmark the threads you like just by pressing 'watch thread'. You can follow threads too, which is all quite similar to bookmarking.
If you go into your setting there's alert preferences so you'll get an alert if someone likes one of your comments, or replies on a thread you've been on.

The problem with this forum is that it's too simple, so we get endless repeats of queries. I'd agree that there are lots of subjects, but you just choose what suits, or answer some of the new posts on threads, and play about with it until you get the hang of it.  :)

I found it a bit complicated but it gets simpler with use. You can go to your profile and change things. I've changed to recent posts as it kept showing old ones.

    I don't have a particularly young brain, it's 72.

The admin on GC are really friendly and helpful.

I had a query and contacted GC admin at 10.20 last night. I received a comprehensive reply in a matter of minutes.
Unfortunately, being an absolute thicko where this sort of thing is concerned l will need to get back to them, but l wasn't made to feel stupid or belittled for asking and was very reassured by the response. They are extremely friendly and hands on, and when you consider the last few days they must have had, are to be commended.

Enjoy your young brain, its ability to adapt, and your future on the other side.  My brain is now set in its ways and can no longer cope with modifications.

    Byee… 😊

Take that as a compliment  ;), I'm probably older than you, certainly I've gone past my three score years and ten. World's moving fast, sometimes it's so hard to keep up, but I'm b*****ed if it's going to beat me. I'm far too stubborn for that  :#

Yes the format of  GC is different to GW but think back to when the platform for GW changed and how outraged many members seemed to be.  I didn't like the new format of GW but got used to it.  I've seen the same changes on other forums and the reaction has been much the same.
We need to accept the GW is going and if we want to continue to have access to gardening forums have to also accept that they will be run in different ways.  Give it a go for a while.  If you still don't like it leave then.

To the Veg growers on here whom are a little hesitant in joining GC they have a great veg section, the tomato growing threads are amazing and that is no exaggeration.
