What do I do with these!?
Evening all,
We’ve only been in this house for around 6 months and it’s the first time we’ve had a house with a garden (and it’s quite large at around 200 - 250ft in length so a bit overwhelming …)
Anyway, things are popping up all over the place - the magnolia tree is in bloom, loads of daffs and muscari everywhere, it’s all quite exciting. However, there are still lots of parts that look messy from winter and having no experience, I have no idea what to do with them to get them ready for the season. These are the main ones I want to tidy up as they’re very dead looking - I have no idea what they are and whether I just cut them back and assume new growth will appear? Any advice much appreciated.

The other pale stems will just be from dead perennials , so do the same with those, and then wait to see what comes through. If it's something weedy - you may not want to keep it!
I don't know if you're aware that this forum is getting binned on Wednesday. Many of us have moved to Gardeners Corner, so you may want to look in there for info and help. They've been very welcoming to us all, but are a bit overwhelmed, so if you do that, just be patient with those in charge, and it'll all be fine. They're very helpful to anyone struggling to get around
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Yes, I’ve seen the news about the forum - being a new member and finding it massively helpful in the short time I’ve been here it’s disappointing but I did create a Gardener’s Corner account last night and it’s been approved so I’ll no doubt be asking many questions there instead as this year progresses!
Thanks again for your help.
