Final Confession

Forgive me forum, for I have sinned.....

Given that forum members are leaving here in their droves and before this message falls on no ears, let alone deaf ones, I would like to apologise to anyone that I may have offended or upset. I tried to address opinions expressed by others and not attack the poster themselves - and I haven't intentionally tried to upset anyone - whether you believe that or not.

May your new home be warm and cosy and free from any contention....

Just join the other one @steveTu  :)
I don't think many people will last here until next week.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

I think I've been a recluse tooooooo long and I'm not sure that this forum hasn't contributed to that. This place was an electronic prop - and I know you're all real people - but you're Magritte's pipe. I think I need to mix with real humans again - scary thought - will they appreciate my humour and views.

I hate modern 'online', 'instant' culture (and my life has been tech, so I'm not a luddite) - and I don't want to spend all my time on a keyboard, let alone a phone touch screen. I wonder if evolution will give us bigger thumbs - or in my case, if my descendants will have short stubby forefingers from all that one finger typing?

I've enjoyed your posts @steveTu.... I'm not somone that just swallows the party line and I like to consider alternative perspectives..... Like you, other than work I don't have a social life but prefer it that way given the local options. When I get a free moment I will sign up to the other forum but can't see it being as prominent in my day as this one has been. Maybe just sign up to keep in touch with folks occasionally?
    Best wishes to you anyway!

@steveTu … I agree that it’s not good to spend all your social life online if you have other options, but gardening forums can be a way of meeting real people … I’ve met @Hostafan, @Busy-Lizzie, @Topbird, @Lizzie27, @didyw, @nutcutlet and several others IN REAL LIFE … several have become real life friends and we’ve met and visited several gardens together  …. there’s probably other forum members in your locality … give it a try …

Well in the short time I've been around here Steve, I've enjoyed your posts, for what it's worth.  I like the way your mind ticks.
I think the only people you might have inadvertently offended are the sort who are inclined strongly towards taking offence anyway, and then lash out without realising what fools they make of themselves.  Sensitive souls.
All the very best for your forum-free-future, and here's to faster fingers!
Take good care of yourself, it's been a pleasure.

But we're all different aren't we?...and we have different thresholds and on a forum you never really get to know where other people's lines are. It's not the same as seeing how people react - seeing their expression.
We were writing software for BT once (they were launching a product called OPD - One Per Desk ) and they had call centre training manuals that I skimmed through - one of the first things in the manual was '...talk with a smile on your face...'. I try to do that when posting - I post with a smile (even though I don't use emojis to show it!)... You can discuss serious issues still with that smile.

I've just realised (subliminally) why I started this thread - I watched the TV prog (on Britbox - another service that is going) called 'A Confession' with Martin Freeman. A true story of multiple murders in Swindon and the injustice of what happened. How cause and effect works eh?

Another wandering , six degrees type post....
