Sweet pea seedlings
in Plants
I’ve recently successfully planted Sweet Pea seeds indoors. The seedlings are about six inches high, very leggy and I don’t know what to do with them! If I put them in the shed outside mice or slugs will get them. I really don’t want to lose them. Help please!

Once they're hearty enough and you move them on, you can also plant them a bit deeper. They can start going outside with basic shelter at that point too. Just make sure to acclimatise them a bit, and that depends on where you are and your climate.
I don't sow mine for another week or two yet for that reason

If you need more help with your s. peas - take a look on the new site everyone's going to Gardeners Corner. Plenty of help there if you want it. I expect I'll be doing some bits and bobs about s. peas there
They don't need cossetting, just protection from the most severe winter/early spring weather, and plenty of light. That's why yours have got a bit leggy - lack of adequate light. They'll be fine though. I usually sow about 3 to a deeper 3inch pot [takeaway coffee cups are ideal!] and I often plant the whole pot out into the final site - mainly large containers, as it's easier to keep them slug free. I do around 12 or so, to 15 inch pots, with plenty of food and a good moisture retentive soil mix
