Stipa Tenuissima

Hi all, I came here to ask this question and saw the news at the top. It’s all a bit shit. I’ll check out Gardeners Corner and I see Marlorena is direct Rose livers to another place where we can consult her store of wisdom. All a pity though.

the question I had was- it’s time to cut back perennial grasses. However I only planted out some Stipa Tenuissima a couple weeks ago (pictured). I assume it doesn’t need cut down?

I never cut these down as they don't grow back.  The green does become buff coloured within a few yrs and they get a bit stiff.  They are incredily easy to grow from seed though, whenever you would like some fresh ones. 👍

It's an evergreen grass @ciaranmcgrenera so there's no need to cut back.  If it looks a bit untidy, just comb your hand through it to remove any dead leaves. I sometimes cut off the last couple of inches by gathering the leaves up vertically and snipping across. If you take off too much, it sulks!
    Wirral. Sandy, free draining soil.

Wow- lucky I said this here, I had it firmly in ”cut back every year” territory in my head!
