    Fast work, you must have a chainsaw or something..

    Why not clear the weeds from around the base, then feed and mulch it.. ? I think you should..

  • Just my trusty, and brilliantly sharp and tough ARS pruning saw. Very highly recommended. Agree. I will get on those other jobs tomorrow. In parts there was some wood louse under bark cracks, which worries my a bit. I guess all I can do is feed and see how we get on!

    @nickoslesteros, that was quick work!

     I was a bit gobsmacked at just how large your plant was when I first saw your new pics this morning and went away pondering. Then I read @Marlorena's and agreed with her recommendations which I was going to relay to you tonight but you beat me to it.

    Hope your plant survives and looks better than ever.

  • @Lizzie27 thank you! It's encouraging to know that I haven't been too drastic. I'd really like to give it a fighting chance before replacing if I can. My garden has had to suffer a lot of hard prunes because of neglect (all my fault), but hoping this spring and summer brings some rejuvenation!

    What I will do without this forum going forward, I do not know!
