Petter Beales new rose

Busy-LizzieBusy-Lizzie Posts: 24,043
I did a rose pruning workshop with Peter Beales Classic Roses in February and saw their new rose in its bare winter state. Ian Limmer told be it was to be in honour of the RNLI. The name has just been released and they will show it at Chelsea.

Good on them not worrying about annoying the "anti-woke" mob. Not exactly a favourite colour but nice to give 20% to the charity. Hope it does well for them.

What are you talking about, @amancalledgeorge?
It's a new Rose, nothing about wokeness.

Oh come on @punkdoc you surely have seen the endless articles by the right wing papers against the organisation because it has rescued people in danger at sea... annoyed because they were a different skin tone than them. I didn't want to stray into going over it again...thus my brief reference. Some of that contingent will be irritated they are supporting the RNLI...I can imagine their public email inbox will get some unkind messages.

I haven't seen any articles like that, but I read The Times. I have great admiration for the RNLI and was even rescued by them once when my brother's sailing dinghy capsized.

Oh they were going like rabid dogs nearly a year ago...

Mind you @Busy-Lizzie I can't stand what The Times has become...The Sun with longer sentences.

    I don't read The Express.

The RNLI can't just leave people to drown whoever they are.

Anyway this thread was just to let people know about the new rose, incase anyone was interested as I saw in a thread that someone asked if PB had a new one this year. I love roses and we live fairly near PB.

It's a new Rose, nothing more, nothing less.
If you like it, good, if you don't fine, it is not about politics.
