I imagine so, Marlorena. That particular nursery specialises in excess stock. Makes it totally random but the occasional gems turn up. Got myself a shrubby salvia ‘La Mancha’ too.
The new PB looks pretty, Lizzie. I like the LoS colouring.
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
thanks for the new thread @Marlorena.. I too have placed quite a lot of orders from Crocus.. I find their website very friendly to navigate.. 2 years ago I had contacted them for a refund as the plant did not survive.. they had initially asked me to wait till summer to see fresh growth.. as there was none they happily paid me back..
Nice colour rose from PB.. I wish they would release it in Spring, I shall forget about it by November.
@cooldoc I once got a rose from Crocus and immediately thought something odd about it. Realising all I had in the pot was a sucker and the actual rose ['Felicia'] had disappeared. Somebody there had pruned off the Felicia canes, mistaking them for suckers I suppose, but leaving behind the actual sucker. That was all there was in the pot. I had to send a number of photos before they consented to a refund. I do like their selection of plants though.
@Nollie I had 'La Mancha'.. didn't survive long here, withered away to nothing last summer. Possibly too moist in the ground. It got this far and no more.. the flowers barely opened. better luck in Spain !
That article says "Available to order from April, a limited number of ‘With Courage’ roses will be available at Chelsea, with more plants available as bare-root from November. It’s priced at £26.95 for bare-root and £31.95 in containers."
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
The way they usually operate is that they release a new rose at Chelsea but you can order it from April, for delivery in November as bare root. If you turn up at Chelsea, and get lucky, you may grab a potted one on display.
In contrast to Austin's, to give credit where due, they release their new Chelsea rose for immediate shipping as a potted rose, no waiting around. I wish Beales would do that. I've always felt it's an unfortunate business model in that, for me, a 'new release' should be made available to plant immediately, not wait until next year to see it flower.
New PB rose is quite nice looking. Ive got enough peachy ones for now though! Hoping to get to a plant fair Sunday, cottage memories are there too & they always have good quality roses so I might see if they have a champagne moment to pot...
We've finally finished all my roses. The big red climbers are razed to the ground to retrain, tying in close to the frame. Fingers crossed that I get a good growth of basals. The big reds (Etoile, Crimson Glory and Guinee) usually peak in late April/early May. I reckon I will get good flower this year, but later than usual.
It was so satifying to get everything out and chopped up. A horrid clem is gone (phew!). Another seems dead, but who knows. A fence is fixed. The overhaul has begun! It always amazes me how much biomass comes out of this small garden. Today eight large bags of rose.
Those limited numbers are only at Chelsea it seems, for containers.. I shall visit Beales next month and see if they can set one aside for me, as I can't get to Chelsea. I know what the answer will be though. I really want this rose, I like the breeding.. Storyteller x Sweet Honey, the colour, compact Floribunda, and best of all the ''sweet apple scent'', my favourite in roses which I don't have enough of. One usually finds it in ramblers and roses like 'Aimee Vibert', not so much in shrub roses.. I've not found it amongst the Austins.
Meanwhile, RV Rogers sends out the most fabulous bare roots, as good as Trevor's.. I only ordered a few days ago.. always order Grade A..
..these are 'Blanche de Belgique' and 'Columbia'..

November? Will they not release in Chelsea in May?
