Too late to prune?

myclayjunglemyclayjungle Posts: 162
A neighbour has kindly given me 2 roses.  She said she already pruned them 'a little'.  Should I leave them, prune the outer sections or give it a hard prune now 8 inches up from the base?  They will go into the ground eventually when my beds are ready.

Personally l would hard prune them, clear away all the weeds, lightly fork over the top layer and give them a feed  :)

I agree, now is a good time to prune them harder.

So do I. It's still only early March. Pruning will stimulate them. Do what @AnniD said
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
