This was recommended for all round interest such as flowers, berries etc but I have read that it gets huge. Does any one grow one that is just as interesting but is a smaller variety please? tia
I've tried growing the Nanum variety a few times but within a couple of years, they're decimated by viburnum leaf beetle leaving the leaves like a lace doily. They always die a few months later. A pity as they're very nice little shrubs.

I am afraid I am with @Pete.8 on this one. I had a compactum which didn't get the beetle but really struggled to establish and was always full of blackfly and the birds didn't eat the berries. I got rid of it.
Thanks everyone, @Pete.8 I have never had a Viburnum as I have always been worried about the dreaded beetle decimation as my neighbour's bush had it and the smell was awful. Think I will give it a miss on this occasion.
Chokeberries have similar attributes of spring blossom, berries and spectacular autumn colour. The variety Aronia prunifolia ‘Brilliant’ has particularly nice red berries. To 2m.
