Clematis Perle d Azure

harmonyharmony Posts: 403
Hi, ive got this clematis (perle d azure)growing through a fuchsia bush which I'd forgotton about cos it's not done anything for a few years. It's got a couple of fat buds near the top of the stem but nothing below. As I am no expert on clematis I would welcome any advice on whether to leave it prune it or move it. The area has sun most of the day(west facing) with normal/clay soiland the roots are covered. Thanks

Perle d'Azur is a Group 3. Hard pruning is normally carried out during late February or March so now is great :-)  Prune all growth back to a good set of viable buds in the leaf joints, approx. 6"- 18"(15-45cm) from soil level.  It's also a good time to fork a handful of bonemeal into the soil now too if you've got some.
