Help!! Shallots

I am going away for a month and put some shallots into the allotment yesterday, trying to get stuff done before I leave.  I haven't grown shallots before and now realise I have planted them too deep, I planted them like flower bulbs, not with the neck just above the soil.  Will they rot? Do I need to go and dig them up again and replant - last chance this weekend!

    They form a cluster round the original bulb, virtually on the surface of the soil.  I  think you'll have to replant.
