Patio pooling

Hello, new to this forum 😊 our garden slopes slightly towards our house and we’ve noticed whenever it rains heavily we get water pooling on the patio but that it is taking a really long time to drain (a full day sometimes). The patio is at the lowest point of the garden. The patio does have a slight gradient down towards the grass but this is by a very small amount, and it appears that because the grass is higher than the patio the water isn’t able to drain onto the grass.

We are considering some sort of retaining wall then digging down to create a French drain with gravel in front of this so that the French drain sits between patio and grass. Would this help to drain water off the patio or should we be looking into other options? Thank you in advance for any suggestions.

Water will always drain to the lowest point. It's evident that you will have to do something like relaying the slabs at an angle so that the water will run off to the lowest point. It's amazing the difference on three or four mm will make.

I would be inclined to cut a 30cm trench between the grass and the patio and fill it with gravel to see if it helps to solve the problem first - easier and cheaper to do initially?
