Do these have a name?

Hi all - I'm looking to buy some 8 inch long round wooden sticks - as pic - with the notch at one end. They're incredibly useful for hanging plant labels away from the plant. I got this one out a houseplant (it had the label hanging off it) but can't seem to find any online. I'm sure I could spend my summer whittling dowels, but I'd rather just buy a job lot of these if I can find them

Anyone any insight? Thanks!

With a lathe to cut the notches these could easily work. If you don’t know anyone with a lathe ask on Nextdoor if someone could do this simple task for you.

Thanks BenCotto - agreed, not buying from Alibaba, but even a google search of that image isn't bringing anything up. When I use them for houseplants, the notch is perfect for hanging a fungus gnat trap on, as they have a pre-punched hole. Maybe the answer is to buy cheap-as-chips houseplants from the supermarket and just keep the stick

I've seen your plant sticks in plastic, as well as wood, but can't see them anywhere online. Maybe ask at a local GC? A kind bod might be able to give you some old ones?

A hand drill and file would work I imagine. Just use a pencil sharpener to put a point on the other end.

wild edges - i finally found these sticks online but they're only for sale in belgium and netherlands (sogo bamboo plant label set) and, thanks to the ongoing disaster that is brexit, they don't ship to the UK. If you know someone in either of those countries, though, they'd be able to get them
