Harvest 2024

Pulled up some more carrots from the polytunnel today. Had lots of small thin side roots but easily cleaned off. Not huge size but enough for 2 meals for 2 and then some in the freezer. The taste was very sweet. Amazing.

In between the heavy rainfall picked our first rhubarb of the year. Not huge stalks but still good enough.

@myclayjungle How brilliant. Can you tell me how you managed this. Again brilliant.

@bertrand-mabel- I bought a ginger bulb from a garden centre, but have since read that unlike garlic, regular shop bought ginger grows just as well!  Put it in a pot and kept it in a garden room- similar to a conservatory but better insulated and connected to the main house. Kept it watered and it shot up several bamboo like shoots. It didn't need any maintenance.  I've re-potted another piece (not in the pic) back in so shall see what re grows.  Def worth trying on a bright window or door.
