Yuccy Yucca

Hello. Please could I have some advice on what to do with this yucca that's looking a little worse for wear. Can it be saved or should we get rid? It looks terrible in the garden!

Get some leather gauntlets on and sharp secateurs and trim off close to the stem.  They don't shred well or compost well  so burn or dispose of in brown bin.  A lot of those near the base will just pull off.
  • I agree with @fidgetbones - you appear to have 1 live stem, possibly 2.  Get rid of all the dead stuff and see what you think.
As well as strong gloves, protect your face/eyes when doing it  :)

From what I can see , you appear to have about 3-4 stems there ; if mine I'd start again and remove all the foliage with a bow-saw , cutting completely through the main trunks fairly low to the ground .
Yuccas readily regenerate and in another few years you'll have a (hopefully cleaner) multi-stemmed plant .
    Good luck !

  • Thanks all. I'll get in there and see what I can do
