Can anyone recommend a shrub rose with good foliage?

As the title says - I'm looking for a shrub rose with lots of good foliage (as well as nice flowers). I want it to be more of a bush with flowers than one of those spindly roses which is just grown for its flowers. Any recommendations?

All roses have good foliage at the start of the season.
I grow Moonlight (a shrub rose that I grow as a 'rambler'). It has burgundy red new stems and leaves and flowers from early June until December. The leaves turn green as they mature.
But as the season progresses various bugs, fungi etc usually get a hold and spoil the leaves - especially black spot.
All of the roses in my back garden (about 15) that are in mixed borders have awful foliage by summer including 2 Gertrude Jekyll.
I also have 2 Gertrude Jekyll in the front garden that has no other plants nearby except a tree and some grasses, that's the only rose that has undamaged foliage throughout the season.

Spindly roses as sold by florists are not the same type as you would grow in your garden. None of my roses have spindly stems.

You might want to try Champagne Moment. A gorgeous shrub rose.
  • I find rugosas beautiful for foliage and flowers if there's enough space and repeat flowering isn't necessary.

I have Desdemona, Ballerina, Gertrude Jekyll and Country Parson, all of which are beautiful shrub roses :)
