Thinking about your hard water problem, Gina: hard water filters for the house are available. It might serve to give you drinkable tap water again and solve your leaky hose calcification quandry.

I find that the little drip rose things tend to get clogged with either dirt or algae. So I have some spares that I can use to quickly replace the grubby ones. The grubby ones then go into a jam jar of water to soak and be shaken every now and then. Much easier than trying to clean the little blighters.
Carmarthenshire (mild, wet, windy). Loam over shale, very slightly sloping, so free draining. Mildly acidic or neutral.

  • there are systems out there that use water butts to supply the water for the irrigation systems and a battery timer to allow water to run out of the butt. This way no worry about floods due to an outside mains tap being left on and controlled by a timer
try this site. the link is safe I have used it but never trust a link unless your antivirus software can check it
