Choisya and Heath

I have a big Choisya in front of the house that doesn't have the best shape and Heath that was growing under Choisya. Now part was Choisya is gone and I'm left big a big whole and very long stems of Heath that is still growing underneath. I don't really know what to do about it, but it's not looking good. I'm also renting this house, so can't do crazy changes.

  • If that was mine I would just keep the Choisya and improve its shape with a little pruning after flowering.

I would cut off the bit on the right which is splaying on the path. Cut it to near where the new growth is sprouting at the base of the plant (it will start shooting from there). Probably best wait a few weeks until severe frost is less likely. The bit on the left might be salvageable with a light prune.

Yes I think that's what I would do.
