I can only grow them in one area in the garden which drains the best , they've been popping up through the soil over the last week . The border they are in is right next to the public footpath , I do get asked on the odd occasion if I am growing cannabis  :D cause that's what they smell like , personally I hate the smell of cannabis so its not a good thing.

I always think they smell more like foxes’ urine rather than weed.

The newly emerging leaves particularly do have a very distinctive, strong, Digestive Biscuity/fox pee aroma about them, true.  You either love it or hate it.  Nothing like the scent of cannabis.

Plant them deep, on their sides, well spaced, and on a thin layer of horticultural grit, and preferably in a sunny position.  They do very well in big pots, as Tanty2 has shown above.  Once the flowering is over move them to a shady spot and let the foliage die back naturally.  They look pretty scruffy at this stage, which is another advantage of growing them in moveable pots!

B*gger. Now I've started looking at these again.... :D

Farmer Gracy has a very nice one - 'Raddeana' which would work very well in a couple of sites I have. The orange/red ones would do nicely too.

Now- where's my bank statement 'til I see the balance on it .....
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

Does the scent hang in the air? I like the look of them but where they would do best the scent could linger as it’s quite sheltered and enclosed

The scent does linger in the vicinity of the plant @Butterfly66 not to far. They don't stick around long enough to be a problem .

@Dovefromabove quick update to say all six bulbs I sowed are now all up and, as you said, are romping away! Happy to say 3 of the 6 are doubles…
