Ilex ball suffering in rain drenched bed

I planted my Ilex early summer last year, I'm now realising come winter the bed where i planted it is getting too wet and there isn't good drainage. Now, my question is, shall i transfer this Ilex ball to a pot with new soil and good drainage, or does it look like it won't survive either way? Is there a chance i could make it happy again?

You might be able to save it by moving it to a pot with good drainage. There’s still some green foliage there so it’s worth a try.  I’d use John Innes No 3 compost and add some grit to help drainage.
    Wirral. Sandy, free draining soil.
