    As @Loxley said, I would wait until it starts growing in the spring, then you can cut out all the ones that haven't any leaves as they will be dead.

    I agree yet again. Time to be patient and see what happens.
    I have worked as a Gardener for 24 years. My latest garden is a new build garden on heavy clay.
  • I agree and would wait until after flowering, which is between March and June generally for Akebia Quinata, which I am growing. The new leaves are quite delicate, I find.
