Draining flat ground

Hi
Struggling to drain flat ground. Have dug a drain to a main pipe, which is slightly lower than surounding area, but finding it difficult to get a slope for the water to flow.

It depends on your situation but one solution is to dig drainage holes fill almost to the top with rubble then fill in with soil.

Its clay soil so the holes would probably just fill with water unfort.

You only need a small fall for the water to flow. You say the drainage pipe is slightly lower so have you tried to see if water flows to it.  The ground is saturated almost everywhere at the moment. Even we have water pooling at the bottom of our garden in spite of a gentle slope and a deep soak away at the bottom.
