We're have the birds gone

Until  recently my garden feeders and  the surrounding trees were buzzing with small birds . Blue tits great tits long-tail tits coal tits dunocks were all common visitors. Along with blackbirds Robins wrens Wood pigeons and other less frequent visitors.

They totally ignored  next doors lazy cat and only disappeared for twenty minutes or so when a female sparrow hawk made an occasional appearance.

However the last few days all the small birds have vanished . Not just in my garden but also can't  see any on my neighbours feeders or the surrounding  trees.Just  the wood pigeons  and the robin left.

Just wondering were they have gone.

They are most likely in the wider area.  With warmer temperatures they are finding food easier to find.
Based in Sussex, I garden to encourage as many birds to my garden as possible.
  • They are also already looking at nest sites.

Blue tits have been checking my bird box out already, I don't have a bird feeder but I would think that while birds appreciate being fed when food is hard to come by at other times they would rather feed away from flocks of other birds.

Still too early for them to be looking for nesting sites here.
The small birds eat at my feeders all year round without any problem.  :)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
  • Guess I'll  never know but there were loads of birds around  last September when I first put the feeders up and all winter so something to do with nesting seams  like a good bet.

Same here, I have barely seen any for days but this often happens with us. I think they “ do the rounds” and from time to time must move to another area. They always come back.
Marne la vallée, basically just outside Paris 🇫🇷, but definitely Scottish at heart.
