RIP Steve.
Like many people my age, I grew up with Wrighty, and had a laugh at all the daft stuff he did - the Kenny Everett influence was huge.
The radio has always been a friend for me, and for anyone on their own during lockdown, it was an absolute lifeline. He got people through dreary afternoons at work on so many occasions.
Some people simply don't understand what radio does - it isn't just about music. All the presenters on R2 today will find it difficult. I'm listening to Nicki Chapman just now - she was crying reading out a message from a listener. I can't think that anyone will mind any tears from any of them.
Bless you Wrighty. Sleep tight.
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Don't think I ever listened to one of his afternoon programmes without laughing out loud at least once. He made many a car journey much shorter and many a down day happier.
RIP Wrighty - we loved you.
