Many years ago we bought a Silver Birch for our back garden. It grew very quickly but we became more concerned that, within a short space of time , the roots had started to spread out under our lawn and then had started to raise the lawn up and were heading straight for the conservatory. We dug it out after that. Didn’t want the roots going into the foundations.
Just plant in a slightly larger (but not too much larger) pot and enjoy your tree. Being in a pot will put the brakes on its growth. By replacing the potting medium you can help make sure it's as healthy as possible. If you put it in the ground it will grow quite fast which may not be what you want.
