Repotting herbs

Hi All,

I planted some herbs (chives, mint, thyme, sage) into the soil 2 years ago. They are doing well; however, they are taking too much space. I would like to plant them into nice pots to keep them outside.

Any tips when would be the best time to do it? When should I prune the herbs (after repotting or before), as I haven’t done it since late summer? Thanks for help. 🌳

Hi and welcome to the forum.
I'd wait until the weather warms up a bit so that the plants have a decent chance to start making new roots as soon as they are in their new home. If you move them now, the weather is too cold for the plants to start growing immediately. Prune them as soon as they are moved to the pots that way the roots (which will doubtless have ungone some damage) won't have to support too much leafy growth. It will also ensure that the plants bush out nicely.
